Riding School
Lessons
High Cross Equestrian Centre Riding School is approved by both the British Horse Society and the Association of British Riding School.
Our qualified instructors teach all ages and abilities, and we own a number of well schooled ponies and horses to suit all levels - children can start form as young as four years of age.
We run a qualification card system, where by riders can achieve Certificates and Rosettes on completion of each level card, starting from one upwards. Each card contains a number of disciplines which have to be achieved. On completion of the card the rider receives a Certificate and Rosette and moves up to the next level. This is both rewarding and gives the rider a clear indication of their improvement.
Beginners
We understand that not all riders will have the correct equipment for their first lesson, we do provide hats for a small fee and would recommend the following:-
- Hats: We do provide hats. However, if you wish to take lessons on a regular basis we would recommend that you purchase your own.
- Footwear: We recommend small heels, either a school shoe or boot (not trainers).
- Other Clothing: Tracksuit bottoms and tops are OK, nothing that will restrict your movement. Ideally jodhpurs but not compulsory.
As a beginner we are looking to build your confidence as a rider. You will learn correct commands and positions to control your horse.
Dressage Lessons
Dressage is about the ultimate control for both the rider and the horse to demonstrate both athletic prowess and supreme elegance.
Show Jumping Lessons
Show Jumping is a popular sport in the equestrian world, which will push both rider and horse when competing.
