Competitions
Here at High Cross we regularly hold a range of competitions throughout the year. All competitions are Unaffiliated and qualifiers for S.E.I.B. Trailblazers and UK Chasers Qualifiers. Our main areas of competition are Dressage and Show Jumping. We hold competitions on all levels from amateur right the way through to Equestrian Championships. Dressage Competitions
We pride ourselves in running well organised Dressage competitions. We offer a quiet and friendly environment and we are keen to encourage the amateur rider and the young horses as well as the seasoned competitors.
We also offer training in Dressage and our arena complete with Dressage Boards is available to hire during the week following a competition should you wish to bring your own horse and allow him the experience of riding in a Dressage Arena.
Dressage is considered to develop, through standardized progressive training methods, a horse's natural athleticism and willingness to perform, therefore maximizing its potential as a riding horse. At the peak of a dressage horse's gymnastic development, the horse will respond smoothly to a skilled rider's minimal aids.
Details on all of our upcoming Dressage events are available to see on our online calendar.
Show Jumping Competitions
Show jumping is a relatively new equestrian sport even though it is one of the better known events. This sport focuses on both the agility and ability of the horse and rider, with points gained on course completion time and penalties for touching jumps.
Show Jumping competitions can be held in both indoor and outdoor arenas. Here at High Cross we have both which can hold a large capacity of people comfortably to make every event we hold exciting and enjoyable.
We also encourage potential competitors to give show jumping a go. As it can build your confidence on your horse as well as allowing you to progress as a rider and possible advancement through the structured levels of classes. High Cross have a brilliant riding school open for all levels of rider and are able to assist you in whichever equestrian sport you desire.
Our show Jumping arena complete with course of jumps is available for hire during the week following a Show Jumping competition.
